Professor Yajing Shen is currently a Professor at the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His mainly research interest is miniature intelligent system, particularly in bioinspired miniature robotics for biomedical engineering and human-robot interaction.

He has published over 200 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers in top multidisciplinary journal (e.g., Science Robotics, Nature Sensors, Science Advance, Nature Communications, PNAS), with widely featured by international media outlets, such as Associated Press, Thomson Reuters, and CCTV, etc.

Professor Shen has received several prestigious awards, including the Best Manipulation Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Japan Chapter Young Award, the Hong Kong UGC Early Career Award, the Big-on-Small Award at MARSS, and the 2018 China Top 10 scientific and technological progress in robotics, the 2025 Hong Kong Top 10 Scientific and technological progress and so on. He was also honoured as Outstanding Supervisor, IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, and the National Excellent Young Scientist. Professor Shen has been elected a Member of the Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences.
